Here in NZ we had the Ford Escort through the '70s and '80s, the Mk 1, Mk2, etc. But when they produced this facelift, they renamed it the 'Laser'. So this is a Ford Laser. I have no idea why, the escort was an iconic name, built-in demand, etc. My only thought was that these new shape cars were shit so they didn't want to sully the Escort name.
