🦁 Jaguar S Type Restricted Performance

P0171 & P0174 Restricted Performance (Resolved) I got the dreaded Restricted Performance message on the way back from the Tan Hill meet. Car goes into limp mode and wont go past 3k rpm. I few things I noticed, the earth behind the headlight sheered off when I touched it, so this was renewed. KB3817. MEMBER. 1999 JAGUAR. My 1999 Vanden Plas, 109,000 mi, gives me Restricted Performance message, amber light - a local independent foreign car mechanic said it was the #4 injector and/or coil pack. I had both of the #4 injectors/coil packs replaced and still same problem. It seems to be sporadic and idles really rough. Of course, it could be something else too - but only the code will tell. As far as the 100,000 mile car business, if my X308 hadn’t been wrecked, it would have long passed the 100,000 mile mark and be entering its 21st year of service. My S-type R is approaching 100,000 miles and 16 years of operation. Thanks for the replies. i'll keep you posted with the repair. The wife said she got restricted performance this morning on the way to work doing 38mph and about 1200rpm. Perhaps it is 2 faults. The car would run ok but then drop into Restricted Performance once it began to cruise on a light throttle. The fault code showed the offside (ie:driver's side) EGR valve faulty. It cost me £288 to get it replaced at an Indy, more expensive because this side is an absolute swine to get to. The passenger side EGR valve is easier to replace. only by by using jag diagnostic tool. if its a previously good fob that worked on your car the battery/ holder could be the problem.if its a replacement the car has to be programmed to accept it.
